Bind27 – Sydney Australia

Bind27 continues the proud tradition of Australasian bookbinding conferences held since 2011 in Canberra, Sydney, Auckland and Brisbane. To be held in Sydney in November 2027, the conference brings together binders, conservators, librarians, artists, and students to celebrate both contemporary and traditional book arts.

At its heart, Bind27 honours the ancient crafts of bookbinding and conservation while recognising our shared role as custodians of knowledge, skill, and cultural memory. The conference weekend will feature presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities, complemented by a two-week program of workshops.

The conference will also include an international exhibition of bindings of Transmigration by Nan McDonald, letterpress printed by Caren Florence of Ampersand Duck (Canberra, Australia). The exhibition will showcase creative interpretations from binders around the world, celebrating the enduring artistry and innovation of the book arts.
